Florida Virtual School Seeks Onsite and Virtual IT Support Services

The state’s accredited, public e-learning school is seeking proposals from vendors for technology setup and ongoing IT support services for its Florida Scholars Academy and other educational programs.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS), the state’s online, public K-12 educational institution, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for onsite and virtual IT support services and resources.

According to the RFP, FLVS looks to contract “with one or multiple suppliers to provide information technology hardware, software and services for the Florida Scholars Academy.”

The 39 Florida Scholars Academy locations, which operate under the Department of Juvenile Justice, will require virtual and physical support services and goods maintenance, setup and delivery.

As for specific focus areas listed in the solicitation, vendors would be responsible for the initial setup of the locations designated by FLVS, ongoing support services after the locations are operational and optional hardware needs.

Other vendor responsibilities include:
  • Verifying the delivery of all technology at each location as designated by FLVS 
  • Verifying that all computers, smartboards, charging carts, etc., are set up with proper image and security protocols  
  • Verifying that all computer peripherals, including interactive touch boards, network equipment and laptop storage equipment, are set up and functioning properly  
  • Verifying that all networks meet the minimum specification and functionality per FLVS-provided requirements per location 
  • Verifying all technology and inventory requiring asset tagging are tagged appropriately and reported back to FLVS’ inventory manager  
Important dates for the RFP include:
  • Jan. 11: All written questions must be submitted via Bonfire by 2 p.m.
  • Jan. 18: All responses are due, and the names of the respondents will be announced via a public Zoom conference at 2 p.m. 
  • Feb. 2: Public notice of FLVS’ intentions to proceed with the award 
  • March 12: FLVS board award approval
