FLVS Allocates $87M for Tech in FY2023-2024 Proposed Budget

For IT operations alone, Florida Virtual School has set aside $26 million plus an additional $11 million for FlexPoint Education Cloud, which offers customizable digital curriculums, tailored teacher and administrator training, and customer support.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS), which offers more than 190 online courses to K-12 students statewide, has allocated approximately $87 million for IT operations, FlexPoint Education Cloud, instruction-related technology and administrative technology services.

According to the Florida Department of Education’s website, FLVS is a fully accredited, statewide public school district that has helped students complete more than 4.6 million semester enrollments since 1997.

Currently, FLVS offers two enrollment options: flex and full time. Flex students can take one or more online courses while attending a physical school. Full-time students can take a standard course load of six courses per semester and participate in state testing to complete their studies online.

Florida Virtual School’s proposed budget documents for FY2023-2024 allocates the following for tech:
  • $29,961,821 for instruction-related technology 
  • $26,090,420 for IT operations 
  • $19,889,827 for administrative technology services 
  • $11,088,499 for FlexPoint Education Cloud
