According to the report, Police Chief Jason Fields aims to reduce violent crime through strategic policing and advanced technology.
The report highlighted the following IT projects and their completion status:
- CRG school mapping: “Lee County contracted with CRG to generate highly detailed floor plans of all Lee County schools to be used by emergency services incident command centers,” the report states. Users can access these plans via a web‐based platform and a smart device app. The police department is looking into integrating these maps into its Mark43 CAD and First Responder systems; the project is listed as 100 percent complete.
- Frontline quality assurance program: During the second quarter of 2021, the police department purchased Frontline’s quality assurance program to replace its ProQA project. Since then, the program has aided with communications, improving performance and evaluating delivered services. The department’s communications section has been working on configuring a corresponding application for the program. The report states the application is in operation and the project is complete.
- Mark43 OnScene app: The department has partnered with Mark43, a New York-based software company, to develop a smart device application. “This will allow all officers to run the First Responder Application on their smart devices with all the functionality of an MDT [mobile data terminal],” the report states. The department negotiated with Mark43 to obtain the application for free and is testing it with select employees within the agency. However, deployment to others is still pending. The project is 90 percent complete.
- RapidSOS alarm module: According to the report, “this application will allow alarm companies to electronically submit alarm activation data directly to our computer aided dispatch (CAD) system ... for expedited call creation and dispatch of burglar and panic alarms.” The app will also streamline the process of accepting and dispatching alarm calls and eliminate the need for alarm companies and the police department to call one another to provide updates. The project is 10 percent complete.
