The Florida House of Representatives IT Budget and Policy Subcommittee hearing on March 12 focused on an iLAB assessment of the agency’s iConnect system, zeroing in on issues such as lack of automation, tedious processes and HIPAA compliance concerns.
A few notable recommendations include $28 million for child welfare software and enterprise architecture modernization, $10 million for local government cybersecurity grants and $3 million for a data center property exemption to incentivize AI growth.
The Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities is the second agency Industry Insider — Florida is reviewing regarding its newly released LBR, detailing the funds required for technology-related projects.
The agency, which has an estimated IT budget of about $94 million, works with local communities and private providers to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The positions are with the Florida Department of Commerce and the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities.
The state Legislature released its budget for 2024-2025 this week. After a 72-hour cooldown period, lawmakers are expected to approve the budget on March 8 and send it to Gov. Ron DeSantis for final approval.
