The official technology agency for the state is seeking a potential vendor to provide mobile video and audio recording technology.

More specifically, the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has issued a request for offer (RFO) for vendors to supply mobile digital video recording systems, accessories and related services.

According to the RFO, DIR customers would use the technology to capture high-quality, evidence-admissible video and audio recordings of critical events such as traffic stops, criminal and surveillance activities and public contacts.

The systems would also provide metadata information on vehicle speeds and GPS coordinates.

A few examples of where DIR customers can use these systems include police cars, buses and passenger vans.

Also listed in the agency’s request are examples of products and accessories, including GPS, software, batteries, mounting hardware, cabling, storage capacity, crash sensor interfaces, monitors, wireless transmitters and receivers, etc.

Meanwhile, related services include product installation, warranty, maintenance and support, managed services and product training.

DIR anticipates that the contract term will be an estimated two years with one optional two-year automatic renewal and one optional one-year automatic renewal under the same terms and conditions.

The deadline to submit all documentation is Jan. 31. For more information, visit https://www.txsmartbuy.com/#esbd or email scott.wilson@dir.texas.gov.
