With the beginning of the school year already underway, Aldine Independent School District (AISD), which comprises 62,000 students in the Houston area, has earmarked $65.5 million for new technology in its proposed 2023 bond.

The district encompasses approximately 111 square miles in north Harris County, has 9,277 employees and a general fund of $638.7 million.

The AISD Board of Education, which is made up of seven elected community members, serving four-year terms, oversees the school district and is responsible for setting all policies and procedures for the district.

Aldine ISD looks to allocate funding for the following tech under Proposition B in its proposed 2023 bond:
  • Student and staff device refreshes for iPads, laptops and Chromebooks
  • Classroom technology, such as interactive display panels

“Instructional technology enhancements will ensure our students and educators have a technology-rich learning environment that supports, amplifies and expands the impact of effective teaching practices so that our students are future-ready,” the proposed bond states.

Early voting will run from Oct. 23 through Nov. 3. The general election for the bond will occur on Nov. 7. More information about the election and the district’s tech funding plans can be found online.
