According to its website, RapidDeploy started in Cape Town, South Africa, when a volunteer paramedic, Brett Meyerowitz, and a Sea Rescue volunteer, Steven Raucher, questioned why billions of dollars were spent each year to maintain proprietary, expensive and out-of-date technology.
They believed that there must be a better way for emergency service agencies to provide accurate, useful information to telecommunicators and first responders.
