According to the RFI, the software must be able to connect agencies, contractors and utilities with the public.
Other software requirements include:
- Managing and distinguishing the data of all mobility-related activities including vehicles, transit, bikes, pedestrian, construction, crash incidents and special events
- Providing road management and resolution of conflicts on a shared platform that connects and unifies ROW activities among government agencies, utilities, contractors, permit holders and citizens
- Promoting proactive coordination of utility and public works projects and traffic impacts from incidents, construction, events and other permitted activities in the ROW
- Providing citizens and regional transportation agencies visibility and real-time awareness of planned or active traffic incidents and activities that cause lane closures or impact mobility
- Providing an integrated map informing citizens and regional transportation agencies of the events and incidents affecting travel safety, travel plans and suggested detours
- Allowing for the input of real-time closure information from multiple agencies, contractors and permit holders
- Providing customized notifications to the public and other stakeholders
- Managing major street incidents that impact travel across jurisdiction boundaries
- Having an application programming interface for integrating with other systems
