The Cherokee County Election Department now offers a texting service. Voters can text questions regarding elections and voter registration.
The texting service is an automated system that can respond at any time, any day of the week. Routine questions such as whether one is registered, where to vote or how to get a ballot by mail can be easily answered without waiting for business hours.
Smart texting technology will provide assistance based on the keywords provided, such as registration status, mail-in ballot or voter registration. The sender will receive the requested information or will be guided through a few steps to submit a report.
Residents can also register to receive voter information texts and have updates delivered directly to one’s phone.
The types of voter information texts that may be sent include voter registration deadlines, absentee ballot deadlines, early voting information and holiday office closures.
