A pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 3 at the Abilene Regional Airport, and vendor questions are due April 5.
Highlighted system priorities from the RFP include these features:
- Be commercial grade
- Operate with secure, cloud-based software
- Universal wireless system preferred
- Made up of 12 energy-efficient displays, a mix of digital and static
- Work with multiple media formats
- Include training and on-site support
- Include software support and updates
The chosen vendor will collaborate with the city IT department to ensure network compatibility.

The Abilene Regional Airport serves the city of 125,070 and has an operating fund of about $3 million, according to city budget documents. The overall city budget is just under $312 million this year.
