City Airport Seeks New Digital Display System

Abilene is asking for proposals from vendors for digital advertising hardware and software in its main airport terminal.

The city of Abilene will purchase digital advertising hardware and software for its regional airport, according to a request for proposals (RFP) due at 3 p.m. April 21.

A pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 3 at the Abilene Regional Airport, and vendor questions are due April 5.

Highlighted system priorities from the RFP include these features:
  • Be commercial grade
  • Operate with secure, cloud-based software
  • Universal wireless system preferred
  • Made up of 12 energy-efficient displays, a mix of digital and static
  • Work with multiple media formats
  • Include training and on-site support
  • Include software support and updates

The chosen vendor will collaborate with the city IT department to ensure network compatibility.

The Abilene Regional Airport serves the city of 125,070 and has an operating fund of about $3 million, according to city budget documents. The overall city budget is just under $312 million this year.
