The city of Denton is seeking a deputy director for its Technology Services Department, where the selected candidate will collaborate closely with Chief Technology Officer Leisha Meine.
The deputy will act for the CTO when needed, collaborate across departments and with city leaders, plan strategies for improvements and automation, and serve on committees or boards. Responsibilities include budgeting, overseeing IT procurement and supervising employees.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a computing or related field, eight years’ IT experience and four years supervising or managing people.
The department plans to add three more positions including a senior IT project manager, an IT training coordinator and a GIS specialist, according to budget documents. There are 72 positions listed, and the expected IT budget is $25.1 million for FY 2025.
Denton is the home of Texas Woman’s University and the University of North Texas. The city has more than 155,000 residents and is the county seat of Denton County, which recently surpassed 1 million residents.
One of the most recent hires is Paul Fountain, who was named city ISO in July. His background is private-sector leadership roles in cybersecurity and risk management, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The position pays $130,179-$169,233. Although the posting is set to expire Oct. 31, it notes that the position could be filled earlier.
