Comptroller Seeking Systems Analyst to Work With CAPPs System

More than a dozen technology and related positions are in recruitment within the State Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) office, among them a Systems Analyst VI.

The CPA is the “chief tax collector, accountant, revenue estimator, treasurer and purchasing manager” for the state of Texas. The office maintains a variety of resources for constituents including business owners, local officials and residents.

The position salary is potentially more than $100,000 per year and is posted at the state’s centralized accounting and payroll/personnel system (CAPPS) website.

A Systems Analyst VI, earning between $7,875 and $8,925 a month, will work in the Fiscal Management – CAPPS Staff Division. This role oversees “planning and analysis” to “automate processes or to improve existing systems.”

The qualified candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent substitution, experience with PeopleSoft systems, ERP experience and experience writing functional design documents.

Knowledge, skills and abilities listed include:

  • Understanding software development life cycle methodology and change control processes
  • Understanding structured query language
  • Writing SQL queries and analyzing data in PeopleSoft Purchasing
  • Working within Texas state government
  • Understanding and working with various statewide financial systems
