The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a request for quotation (RFQ) for vendors to provide CyberArk software maintenance renewal services.
Founded in 1970, ERCOT serves as a membership-based 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation governed by a board of directors and regulated by the state’s Public Utility Commission and Legislature.
According to the council’s website, ERCOT oversees “a network of more than 52,700 miles of long-distance, high-voltage transmission lines and substations that carry bulk electricity to multiple utility companies for distribution to their customers.”
To put this into perspective, it delivers approximately 90 percent of the electricity used by more than 26 million consumers across the state.
So, how does CyberArk come into play?
ERCOT uses CyberArk’s software to implement cybersecurity measures like access control, authentication, encryption, firewalls and VPNs to protect against cyber attacks and threats.
In this case, ERCOT has issued an RFQ to find a vendor to provide software and hardware maintenance renewal services for 12 months.
Some of these services include overseeing:
- Advanced server protection agent and privileged control for Linux and Unix servers
- A high-availability vault
- EPV basic user
- A test vault
- A disaster recovery vault
- 100 PSM concurrent session licenses
- Agent-based application authentication and credential retrieval
- Upgrade to core PAS
- PIM enterprise infrastructure
As for anticipated time frames, the RFQ deadline is Dec. 9, and the contract will be awarded on Dec. 30.
