Barclay, who announced his move in May, is a state and local government adviser based in Austin. He was previously an account executive with Recorded Future, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“Being an account manager in SLED is not for the faint of heart or the salesperson solely looking to make a quota,” Barclay told Industry Insider — Texas via email. “What I enjoy most is the importance of building authentic relationships with partners and peers to collaborate and responsibly solve challenges literally affecting the lives of the citizens of Texas. I take pride in my work and know that when a project is being implemented, we will see tangible results improving the security and economic posture of the partner organization.”
He said he gets enjoyment out of his work, which includes high interaction with clients and finding ways to better the constituent experience.
“I love meeting in person, engaging in hands-on workshops, and connecting individuals from all over the state to each other so we can draw on each other's experiences to better the entire region,” he wrote.
He now reports to Adam Ingram-Eiser, Elastic’s vice president of state, local and education sales.
Barclay has also worked at Secureworks and Absolute Software and holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and English from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Outside of his career duties, his community service includes working with Sarah’s House, A Place of New Beginnings for Young Single Moms and Cultivate Relationships.
