Dallas ISD Announces Renovation Opportunity Including Tech

Moving forward on its 2020 bond election, the second-largest district in the state announces an online orientation meeting for next week.

Dallas ISD continues to move forward with plans to renovate and update a majority of school buildings with financing from its 2020 bond election.

A construction bid for Maple Lawn Elementary has been published, and there is an online pre-proposal meeting at 10 a.m. June 27. A site tour will be at 1 p.m. that day at the school at 3120 Inwood Road.

“We have invested more than $2 billion in schools and academic programs since 2015, funding renovations, additions and other school improvements,” according to the website. “Taken together, these efforts have afforded students the opportunity to receive a 21st-century education in state-of-the-art facilities as they prepare to compete in today's technology-rich, ever-changing, global society.”

Although this is a construction bid, guidelines and specifications include technology such as:
  • Security updates, including cameras and card access
  • Replacing interior and exterior lighting
  • HVAC controls

Bond vendor opportunities are listed at the Dallas ISD’s construction web pages, where the technical design guidelines and educational specifications are published in PDF form.

Part One of the Maple Lawn bid is due at 2 p.m. July 19, and Part Two is due at 3 p.m. July 20.

Dallas ISD serves 12 counties in North Central Texas and the city of Dallas; there are about 154,000 students in its 230 schools.
