DFW International Airport regularly emphasizes that operations across America’s second-busiest airport are infused with technology, enabling nimble and adaptive responses.

Various Autodesk products have been used for several years there, and the software company was announced as the most recent Digital Transformation Excellence Award winner.

The airport in 2022 added an Autodesk Construction Cloud contract with an expected $1.9 million final value, according to airport board documentation. It allows contractors, airport personnel and various stakeholders to have real-time information that allows immediate action, not always easy within the airport’s 27 square miles.

The cloud solution gathers data from design documents, photographs, manual data, drone footage and a range of activity reports, according to a recent case study, and is saving 40 hours weekly in data entry.

The award is part of the airport’s Dec. 12 Business Opportunity Forum, a hybrid event that has become a standing information and networking venue for vendors wanting to learn about opportunities and ongoing initiatives.

Last week’s event unveiled a wealth of opportunity in built infrastructure, but vendors will find that technology opportunities are embedded throughout.

The forums are posted to YouTube, and a procurement forecast is posted on the airport’s procurement pages.
