DIR Looks to Fill Management-Level Tech Positions

The Texas Department of Information Resources is recruiting for an IT director and a project manager.

The Texas Department of Information Resources has opened recruiting for two management-level positions.

First is an opening for Director IV, also called Director of Information Technology Services and Agency Information Resources Manager.

According to the job posting, this person will provide direction and guidance for strategic operations and planning within the information technology services department.

More specifically, this includes “developing and implementing policies; reviewing guidelines, agency technology strategies, procedures, rules and regulations; establishing priorities and standards; implementing tools to meet agency and department goals; and overseeing the assessment of business unit needs and providing critical IT solutions.”

Desirable qualifications for the position include:

  • Experience and training in analyzing, recommending, developing and implementing cogent enterprise solutions, policies, standards and guidelines
  • Experience with private-sector IT operations in an organization or company specializing in information or communications technology
  • Experience working with local, state and federal agencies

The position has a monthly salary range of $10,833 to $11,666, and the application deadline is listed as open until filled.

Second is an opening for a Portfolio Project Manager I, also referred to as a Shared Technology Services Project Engineer.

According to the job posting, this individual would “perform highly advanced portfolio project management work and technical activities required on DIR’s Shared Technology Services (STS) program, including the Data Center Services, Managed Security Services and Texas.gov Services programs.”

Other job responsibilities include facilitating “effective project implementation, communication, planning, requirements definition, issue escalation and collaboration and information sharing among DIR, multiple service providers and other stakeholders regarding a suite of projects and portfolios.”

Desirable qualifications for the position include:

  • Eight years of IT project management experience
  • Six years of experience managing complex server environments, including capacity planning, operating system upgrades, system software upgrades and implementing server hardware upgrades
  • Experience with IT-related planning and operations, including troubleshooting and resolving complex IT problems or issues
  • Experience with IT project implementations, including building, testing and deploying complex integrated systems in a multiservice provider environment
  • Experience working as a project or program technical lead on infrastructure transition or transformation activities, especially involving multiple facilities or data centers
  • Experience with organizational change management activities and processes for large, complex transition initiatives

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,000 to $8,750, and the application deadline is March 10.
