The Texas Department of Public Safety has set a quick turnaround to contract an AI tool that will analyze 89th Legislature bills for 35 users.

Solicitation No. 405-25R0004520, due at 5 p.m. Nov. 13, specifies that DPS would use contracted software as a service (SaaS) to monitor legislation that impacts its “functions or operations.” The request for offers was published Oct. 30.

The agency seeks an AI tool that can be customized by end users to set up bill tracking, receive summaries and get real-time updates.

Requested features include:
  • Ingest bills, legislative hearings, testimony and various related content
  • Summarize meetings and various content
  • Create reports, talking points and presentations
  • Allow keyword search, intuitive/semantic search and various bill searches
  • Cloud-based, data-protected, role-based access
  • Training and support
Questions are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 5, and a contract is expected to be awarded by Nov. 21.

The contact is Daniel Ashby, and DPS lists opportunities at Texas SmartBuy under member No. 405.
