The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the independent nonprofit that manages Texas power prices and the grid, is seeking consultants with expertise in enabling generative artificial intelligence and multi-cloud environments via two requests for proposals (RFPs).

The first RFP, titled “Consulting Services for Enabling Generative AI for the Enterprise” has an Aug. 5 deadline, according to the documents. The organization anticipates looking at tools such as Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot to increase productivity, creativity and efficiency.

The second is “RFP for Cloud Foundations” and has an Aug. 21 deadline. ERCOT states it wants to “future proof” IT infrastructure by creating a cloud framework starting with Microsoft Azure Cloud Foundation. The work includes developing and deploying the infrastructure and providing staff training and upskilling.

The postings are listed on ERCOT’s procurement pages, and both procurements will be managed through Workday Strategic Sourcing. The contact for both is Jana Richardson.

ERCOT answers to the state Public Utility Commission, and both answer to the Legislature, according to a 2021 Texas Tribune explainer.
