Finding Upcoming Opportunities at the End of the Fiscal Year

As state agencies wind down spending, vendors can find various tech wants and needs in strategic and budget documents.

The end of the fiscal year is approaching, and state agencies have been advised on end-of-year procedures for FY 2023.

According to Industry Navigator*, agencies have spent more than $3.5 billion this year on various technology and related products. The largest amount of tech money spent went to contracted services, followed by IT services.

Vendors can look at various documents to assist in researching potential opportunities such as agencies seeking technology and related services.

The Legislative Budget Board (LBB) is a good resource for budget documents. The LBB posts:


Part of the budget process is agency strategic planning, which was formalized last summer for the coming 2024-2025 biennial budget. The next fiscal year begins Sept. 1.

Another resource for vendors are strategic plans, which are generally posted on agency websites.
