Fort Worth is looking at a $2.79 billion proposed budget with $57.1 million for IT Solutions (ITS), $5.5 million more than last year.

The IT budget would include $4.8 million for contracts for transferred IT projects, inflation and other growth. As an example, the city’s Granicus account moved from the Communications and Public Engagement office to ITS.

The department should also see $661,117 for five new positions in the data/voice network and Internet work group.

Functional areas, referred to as bureaus, are Infrastructure and End User Experience; Applications and Project Management; Security, ERP and Radio; and Strategic Planning and Finance.

ITS is responsible for citywide support of about 7,800 full-time employees and an emergency wireless communications division that serves more than 140 entities in eight counties.

The City Council is expected to adopt its 2024-25 operating budget Sept. 17 for an Oct. 1 budget start date.
