Spanish speakers in Fort Worth now may choose to use the MyFW app in either Spanish or English to request city services, report issues and track resolutions.

“This update is a crucial step in making city services more inclusive and accessible. The city of Fort Worth recognizes the importance of serving its diverse community and ensuring that all residents, regardless of their primary language, can fully engage with and benefit from city resources,” according to a news release.

The city has almost 1 million residents, and about 32 percent speak languages other than English at home, according to U.S. census data.

The MyFW app has undergone several updates within the year and routes the requests to the proper city service teams. Many issues can be reported via mobile app, from abandoned cars to overgrown lawns to nuisance birds.

The app incorporated artificial intelligence in April 2023 to help customers report issues. For example, when someone enters “paint” in the search suggestion box, the application may suggest the user make a graffiti complaint.

It also features speech-to-text and geo-location for photos taken within the app.

The city’s Customer Care Division, which is responsible for the application, responds to citizen requests as part of its support to 25 departments and communicates through various means including telephone, text and the city website.

Links to download the app are on the Fort Worth residential pages.
