A state nonprofit organization has launched four online dashboards to share information about the state’s education and workforce sectors.
Texas 2036 looks to provide nonpartisan ideas and solutions grounded in research and data to address different issues impacting the state.
In this case, the group has launched its Advanced Coursetaking Dashboard and Privately Issued Credentials Initiative and plans to share its Postsecondary Outcomes Exploration Tool and Community College Finance Simulator in early 2023.
The organization’s Advanced Coursetaking Dashboard aims to provide policymakers with information about discrepancies affecting the state’s school districts. One way the dashboard does this is by showcasing which districts offer Algebra I classes to seventh and eighth graders and which AP/IB courses are taught to high schoolers.
Meanwhile, the group’s Privately Issued Credentials Initiative compiles and shares information about in-demand workforce credentials offered by private issuers like Google, Dell, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.
As for the nonprofit’s Postsecondary Outcomes Exploration Tool, users will be able to see different education-to-workforce pathways of Texas students by comparing trends in coursework and post-graduation outcomes across districts and schools. Also available through the tool is data related to students’ course selection and how it has impacted rates of entering postsecondary education and earning a living wage.
Lastly, the organization’s Community College Finance Simulator shows how state funding is allocated across the state’s 50 community college districts and the financial impacts of potential changes to current policies.
