Harris County will now pay jurors online using Tyler Technologies’ Disbursements software, which allows public agencies to make multiple types of payments with one platform.

Jurors will be able to select ways to be paid such as pre-paid debit cards, bank transfers and PayPal, according to a news release.

“This new payment method makes payments to jurors more efficient, easier and faster,” said District Clerk Marilyn Burgess. “Not only does it bring benefits for jurors, but eliminating the use of paper checks also saves the taxpayers of Harris County a significant amount of money over time.”

The county has contracted with Tyler Technologies for several years now.

The Commissioners Court voted in September on additional technology contracts affecting public safety operations.

One was the approval of Netsync Network Solutions to provide Cisco unified communications software, networking and related work. The $5.1 million one-year contract has four one-year renewal options.

Universal Services is the technology division for Harris County; it also manages public safety software and hardware. Its FY 2023 budget was $75.2 million and expects $93.7 million in FY 2024, which started Oct. 1. The Universal Services repair and replacement budget is $16.6 million.
