The Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) has issued a request for offer (RFO) for a fingerprint portrait station (FPS).

According to the RFO, the station must include a fingerprint scanner, a camera for portrait photographs, a portrait backdrop and a signature pad that interfaces with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to issue state driver’s licenses and identification cards for the purpose of releasing minors.

By leveraging these different components, TJJD looks to capture and prepare biometric data, including flat fingerprints, portraits, signatures and other biographic information associated with applicants.

Once this data is captured, the FPS will compile all biometric records and biographical data in a NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) compliant format and transmit the information to DPS for further processing.

The RFO says vendors will be responsible for deploying the FPS on five desktops in the department’s high-restriction facilities and provide all hardware, software, installation, training, warranty and maintenance services and all other deliverables for the FPS.

The RFO, titled “RFO# 644-22-062222,” can be found online. The due date to submit information for vendors is April 4.
