Katy to Use ARPA Funds for Cybersecurity

The city near Houston has hired True North Consulting to assess and implement cyber stance and planning.

Katy, with about 20,000 residents, has contracted with True North Consulting Group for cybersecurity services. The city will pay up to $255,716 from American Rescue Plan Act funds.

A June request for proposals for a master services agreement had multiple responses.

True North will provide assessment, resilience programming and an implementation plan, as agreed during the Aug. 28 City Council meeting.

Patrick Johnson, True North’s cybersecurity practice manager, was present and said he would like to start the project in the coming weeks. Work will begin with a baseline assessment of the entire city IT infrastructure.

Completion of the project depends on city staff availability with hopes of finishing by the end of the year or January.

True North is based in Waco.
