Large County Inquires About Website Solution

The county has included website planning in this year’s budget; it seeks a modern, responsive solution.

The sixth-largest county in the state has a request for information (RFI) seeking a vendor to identify a hosted website solution that has responsive design and is ADA-compliant.

This is one item addressed in the Collin County budget released last fall. It appears to have $102,009 available, according to the budget documents.

The documents also include a hardware refresh of $731,944.

Technology goals listed in the 2022-23 budget include:
  • Data-driven decision-making
  • Using IT to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Using technology to “improve service delivery, streamline processes and improve access to information, provide technology to help serve all residents.”

The RFI is due at 2 p.m. Feb. 16. The documentation can be found on the county’s procurement portal.

The website project, listed under Capital Improvements, is part of the “Tax Notes” that also include a financial reporting system with $4 million available; justice system technology with $167,970 available; and elections technology and equipment with $116,586 available. There is a total of $38 million allotted to these projects.

Collin County has 1 million residents and 2,200 employees. The IT department, comprised of 52 positions, manages the enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, records, records management and preservation, and shared IT equipment and services. GIS has 5.5 positions and is tasked with maintaining maps for 911 compliance.
