North Texas Exurb Seeking IT Director

Murphy is taking applications through Aug. 18 for the role that oversees a $1.5 million tech budget.

The city of Murphy is searching for a new information technology director to oversee the growing exurb’s $1.5 million IT budget and oversee the vision for city technology.

The outgoing director is Taylor Prentice, who announced his departure on LinkedIn.

The director is part of the city leadership team and is responsible for the city’s five-year technology plan, department budgeting, and policy and procedure. The IT department has five positions supporting nine departments and a total of 16 divisions, according to the posting.

Murphy’s FY 2023 budget was $16.9 million, which was more than a 5 percent increase from FY 2022, according to the documents. The IT budget was $1.5 million. Murphy has 127 full-time employees, 28 part-time employees and about 22,000 residents.

The city is accepting applications through Aug. 18 and plans to contact job candidates from Aug. 21 to Aug. 25, according to the job posting. The salary range is $110,403 to $130,476 annually.
