Railroad Commission Recruiting for IT Project Manager

The job would entail carrying out advanced to complex project management work for the commission’s IT Services Division.

The Railroad Commission of Texas is looking to hire an experienced IT project manager within its Information Technology Services Division.

According to the job listing, “major responsibilities include coordinating the planning, initiation and execution of projects at various levels of completion; monitoring the progress and schedule of projects; and communicating with project stakeholders, management, contracted vendors, outside industry vendors and other relevant parties.”

As for specific interactions with tech, the duty statement says applicants must be able to coordinate the planning and initiation of multiple interrelated projects, including software development implementations and hardware, middleware and operating system upgrades.

Other desirable qualifications include:

  • Translating business requirements into supporting software implementations and infrastructure solutions. 
  • Managing projects using accepted project management methodologies to assign tasks to team members and develop project management artifacts and reports.
  • Planning and coordinating cross-functional resources to deploy or optimize virtual or physical infrastructure components within predicted cost, time and quality estimates.
  • Maintaining budget records, reconciling accounts and preparing statements of expenditures for projects.
  • Measuring, tracking and evaluating progress against project plans, deliverables, milestones and required tasks.
  • Producing and delivering reports that include project progress, schedule, budget, risks and issues.
  • Identifying potential project risks and issues and designing strategies to mitigate or avoid them.
  • Monitoring and managing project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the project contract’s or specifications’ terms.
  • Ensuring compliance with commission security standards and policies and recommending necessary updates.

The position has a monthly salary range of $4,917 to $8,588, and the application deadline is Aug. 11.
