Spring ISD, serving an area north of Houston, has posted an invitation for competitive bids (IFCB) for Internet access based on the E-rate program, and its due date is Nov. 8.

The school district requires 25 GB bandwidth that is scalable to 50 GB; supports IPv4/IPv6 dual stack implementation; allocation of contiguous public IP addresses; a password protected portal to track network metrics; and round-the-clock support. Further details are online at the CRW Consulting website.

Service should be ready by July 1, 2024. The contract will be for one year with potential extensions. Questions about the procurement are due Oct. 6 by 11:59 p.m.

In a separate procurement, the district is looking for a vendor to do a wireless district refresh and cabling with an objective to “upgrade existing broad coverage wireless services at all district facilities to a cloud-based wireless system that supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth capability,” according to the IFCB's scope of work. This contract will also be based on E-rate.

There is a voluntary site visit on Oct. 13. Questions are due Oct. 14, responses are due Nov. 13. Awards will be recommended on Jan. 9, 2024, for a contract beginning in July.

Spring ISD serves 34,000-plus students on 43 campuses and has 5,200 employees, according to its website.
