During a hybrid opportunity forum for vendors, contractors and business people interested in doing work with the second-largest airport in the U.S., leadership on Friday shared the ways interested parties can succeed during the bid process.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Friday highlighted recently completed projects and unveiled upcoming bid opportunities that will be released during the first two quarters of 2023.

Upcoming opportunities reflect the airport’s strategic plan, titled “Travel. Transformed.” To fully avail themselves of the procurement process, vendors were advised to:

  • Register in Bonfire
  • Update vendor/company profile
  • Follow all bid instructions
  • Complete documents in their entirety
  • Perform in accordance with contract terms

The airport tagline is “Travel. Transformed.” To do this, airport leaders say, they continue to implement technology that enables innovation for a “seamless customer journey.”

Underpinning this initiative is technology that provides real-time key performance data, market forecast data and fleet management data. The airport looks for partners that use the latest technology and look to innovate through technology, infused in all aspects of airport construction and operations.

One opportunity in Q2 will be a Data Center Colocation Goods and Services procurement with a $4.3 million cost, one-year contract and annual renewal options. The full list of opportunities can be found in the airport buying plan, which outlines upcoming projects and links to procurement and orientation documents.

Bruce D. Collins, vice president of procurement and materials management, noted in June that “consolidating contract opportunities in this buying plan provides suppliers in the business community time to learn, prepare and plan for upcoming opportunities. It allows businesses the time they need to develop partnerships to effectively participate as subcontractors and prime contractors.”

Friday’s Business Opportunity Forum was presented in video, screened in person in Grapevine and also via a livestream. It featured sweeping views of the airport, highlighted forward-thinking initiatives such as its digital twin project, and was narrated by airport leadership.

The airport is the second-busiest in the world, expecting some 73 billion travelers a year. It is the third-busiest operationally, with a goal to be No. 1 in both categories.

The 27-square-mile special district directly employs 200,000 people, generates $37 billion for the North Texas economy and is larger than Manhattan. DFW Airport will post Friday’s video presentation to its YouTube channel.
