
The law requires that the ISO report to an agency’s executive management, have authority over the “entire agency,” have direct training and experience, and have information security as a primary duty.
The college has six campuses in Fort Worth, Arlington, Hurst and online and serves about 45,000 students both in person and virtually, according to its research office. There are about 2,100 full-time staff, 651 full-time professors and about 1,100 adjunct professors.
TCC’s district director of information security should be engaging, imaginative and collaborative, according to the job posting. This role requires someone who is customer service-oriented and can work with a range of constituents to balance “security strategies and other priorities to successfully manage” the security landscape inside of and outside of the college district.
Performance will include:
- Ensuring state information security compliance
- Monitoring of security and reporting of any breaches or non compliance issues
- Creating, implementing and maintaining an information security plan
- Collaborating with college administrators, faculty and staff
- Developing appropriate training for the district
- Providing guidance and information to all stakeholders
- Conducting risk assessments and security assessments
- Reporting to the CIO and the district’s chancellor
- Leadership, coaching and performance management
- Supervising direct reports
- Ensuring accountability for policy, procedures, goals and governance
- Representing the district within the community and related organizations
- Bachelor’s degree
- Seven years of information security experience
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Deep and broad knowledge of legal frameworks for information security
