Tarrant County Seeks Digital Fingerprint System for Medical Examiner

The department, serving four counties, is accepting proposals for a one-year contract.

A Tarrant County project consists of the implementation of a secure digital fingerprint technology solution, and the selected vendor will provide all mobile devices, detachable scanners, software and support, according to the RFP. The solution is “essential to continuity of operations” and will enhance accuracy, efficiency and response time in identifying decedents.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner serves Tarrant, Parker, Denton and Johnson counties with a combined population of more than 2 million, according to its website.

The solution will:
  • Work in the morgue setting and use devices that can be sanitized.
  • Accommodate three end users.
  • Allow one- to two-finger enrollment.
  • Include a minimum three detached scanners for ease of use.
  • Include hands-on end-user training before go-live date.
  • Generate real-time reports and an audit trail.
  • Be compatible with multiple Internet browsers and Windows 10.

The full statement of work is available in the RFP. Hard-copy proposals are due at the Tarrant County Administration Office by 2 p.m. April 21, and the vendor solution must be live scan validated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
