Michael Ruelas recently accepted a position as a public and social impact director at Slalom, which offers business advisory, customer experience, technology and analysis services.

In Ruelas’s new role, he will oversee the “go-to-market strategy, account management, client delivery and business development activities of Slalom’s public-sector clients across the state,” according to his LinkedIn profile.

“I am incredibly excited to help guide Slalom as it sets its sights on expanding its SLED footprint,” Ruelas said. “As a global leader in business and technology consulting, I know Slalom can bring enormous value to our public-sector partners throughout Texas and the greater TOLA region.”

Before joining Slalom, Ruelas held several roles across the private and public sectors. Most recently, he was vice president of SLED (state, local and education) product development and executive vice president of operations at Optm.

Before that, he was a project management consultant for the California Department of State Hospitals, an IT oversight manager for the California Department of Finance, and a senior project manager for the California Department of Health.

He is also a Certified Scrum Master and Project Management Professional.

As for Ruelas’ professional philosophy, his LinkedIn profile says, “for over 20 years, I have helped people and businesses break past barriers to achieve higher levels of growth and success through the application of my five personal principles.” Those five principles are learning, commitment, believing, championing and teaching.
