The Texas A&M University System has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for vendors to provide a cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) electronic Form I-9 and E-Verify application to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals for new hires.

The university system has a budget of $7.2 billion and comprises a statewide network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies and a RELLIS Campus.

It also educates more than 152,000 students and makes more than 24 million additional educational contacts through service and outreach programs annually, according to the RFP.

As for the actual request, Form I-9 is a document submitted by employers to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the U.S.

E-Verify, on the other hand, is a web-based system that allows enrolled employers to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the U.S.

According to the RFP, a single solution must facilitate the online completion of Form 1-9 by employees and employers and the collection of documents that indicate an individual’s identity and employment authorization.

Other requirements include being able to submit documents to the E-Verify web-based system and supporting compliance with all applicable laws from the state, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

More information about “RFP01-CIO-23-154” can be found online. The due date to submit information for vendors is April 25.
