Texas Educator Now a VP of K-12 Solutions Company

Shannon Terry, a longtime Dallas-Fort Worth educator and TEA division director, will now work with schools from the private side.

Shannon Terry, formerly of the Texas Education Agency and Dallas Independent School District, has made a move to the private sector as vice president of national strategic accounts for SAFARI Montage.

In her new role, she “will work closely with school districts to provide strategic vision and direction on implementing and effectively leveraging SAFARI Montage solutions in their digital ecosystems,” according to a news release. The company, based in Pennsylvania, provides K-12 schools with a platform providing a learning object repository, streaming library and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) with live media.

Terry last served as the division director of program integration strategy for the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and has spent most of her career serving North Texas schools. She worked in districts including Dallas, Arlington, Garland and Fort Worth. Her longest tenure was in Garland ISD, where she served 20 years in bilingual education, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The announcement about Terry’s move to SAFARI mentioned additional executives who were referred to as a “fabulous foursome of ed-tech leaders.”

Terry has received several educational awards, holds multiple certifications and has expertise in learning technologies and learning design. She does public speaking and is active in multiple professional organizations.

She earned a master’s degree in bilingual, multilingual and multicultural education from Southern Methodist University and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Lamar University.
