The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) conference this week saw Texas state CIO Amanda Crawford taking the gavel as association president. She most recently was vice president.

Joseph Mara of NetApp conveyed congratulations to Crawford and to the outgoing president, North Carolina CIO Jim Weaver, via LinkedIn. Crawford thanked him in a reply.

NASCIO hasn’t yet published a formal announcement as of Thursday.

Crawford is a sought-after speaker on the national and state level, sharing information on IT best practices and shepherding Texas agencies through modernization and emerging technology adoptions.

Crawford, the CIO and executive director of the Department of Information Resources (DIR), served last year as NASCIO's vice president. She has also been secretary/treasurer and an executive committee member, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She has been DIR’s executive director since 2019 and has extensive legal experience from her time in the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
