Tracking the Spend: Comptroller of Public Accounts

The agency spent approximately $13 million during the fourth quarter of 2022. One of the agency’s largest IT expenditures was information technology services.

The agency responsible for serving as the state’s tax collector, chief accountant, chief revenue estimator and chief treasurer spent approximately $13 million on its five largest IT purchases during the fourth quarter of 2022.

According to the Texas Comptroller’s (CPA) “Payment to Payee” visualization, the CPA spent $13,598,579 from Oct. 4 through Dec. 29.

Here, with rounding, were the agency’s top five tech spends:

  • $5.7 million to Accenture LLP, which offers risk management, enterprise architecture application development, analysis, cloud computing, system integration, testing and security services. 
  • $2.8 million to Oracle American Inc., which designs, manufactures and markets network computing infrastructure solutions.
  • $1.8 million to Summus Industries Inc., which offers procurement, IT deployment and managed services.
  • $1.7 million to Resource Integrators LLC, which provides system integration solutions and senior information technology and management consultants to assist clients.
  • $1.6 million to Software One Inc., which offers end-to-end software and cloud technology solutions. 

As for specific purchases, the agency spent $9.2 million on information technology services, $3 million on computer software maintenance and repair, and $1.4 million on new computer software.
