Tracking the Spend: DPS Spent Just Under $9M in January

The Texas Department of Public Safety spends a significant portion of its budget on telecommunications and video equipment.

The department responsible for protecting the state’s 30 million residents from local, national and international criminals spent the most tech money on a company that provides dashboard and body cameras.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) spent $8,894,679 on some 150 vendors that month, excluding interagency payments.

Here, with rounding, is what went to the top five tech vendors, based on data from the Texas Comptroller’s (CPA) “Payment to Payee” visualization.

  • $3.1 million to Enforcement Video LLC, which provides dash and body cameras for law enforcement.
  • $1.4 million to Netsync Network Solutions, which provides managed services and is a technology reseller.
  • $567,468 to AT&T Mobility, which provides wireless voice and data communications services.
  • $547,468 to CBM Archives, which provides document imaging for law enforcement.
  • $274,661 to AT&T, which provides telecommunications, media and technology services.
