Tracking the Spend: Governor’s Office Sent Large Payment to TFC in H1

In the first half of 2024, the Governor’s Office spent more than $440 million with the Texas Facilities Commission, as well as purchases for travel, tourism and economic data.

During the first six months of 2024, the Governor’s Office spent $442.8 million from its fiscal account.

The vast majority of the office’s spending went to the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC), which received $441.5 million between Jan. 21 and June 28.

TFC responsibilities include facilities planning, asset management, design, construction and operation and leasing, according to its website. The commission provides site security and maintains a surplus program.

According to the Texas Comptroller’s “Payment to Payee” visualization, here are the top five vendors after the TFC:
As for specific categories, the office spent $55,859 on communications, $20,915 on personal property (computer repairs and maintenance) and $22,486 on telecommunications (monthly charges and other expenses combined).

During the same period, the Governor’s Office spent $276,400 from its executive account. The largest of those purchases, $60,300, went to the constituent management software firm Indigov.
