Tracking the Spend: Texas Department of Public Safety's Top 5 IT Spends

The department spent just under $15 million during the fourth quarter of 2022. One of the agency’s largest IT expenditures was computer software maintenance and repair.

The department responsible for statewide law enforcement and driver’s license administration spent just under $15 million on its five largest IT purchases during the fourth quarter of 2022.

According to the Texas Comptroller’s (CPA) “Payment to Payee” visualization, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) spent $29,266,409 from Oct. 3 through Dec. 29.

As for specific purchases, the department primarily spent on computer software maintenance and repair, computer equipment, IT, telecommunications and computer services, software and data processing services.
