The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is looking to fill a director-level IT position to provide guidance and direction for the agency’s central intake and quality assurance department.

According to the job listing, the chosen candidate “must have experience in technical management processes including structured design, scope control, project estimation, risk mitigation, preventive and corrective actions, and have problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills and the ability to communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner.”

The IT central intake and quality assurance director will be selected by the agency’s deputy chief information officer of applications solutions and perform advanced senior-level managerial work in strategic operations to plan, organize, manage, control and evaluate the functions and performance of the department.

Specific job responsibilities include:
  • Developing operating guidelines, policies, procedures, standards and instructions for managers, staff, contractors and customers within the agency’s IT department 
  • Organizing the IT department to align with workload demands, fill vacancies and guide managers to maintain operations and operate within budget 
  • Implementing a TWC Performance Planning and Review program to help managers and staff know management’s expectations and to provide staff with regular feedback on performance 
  • Coaching, counseling and mentoring managers and direct reports and holding them accountable for managing their workload and team 
  • Prioritizing and setting workload expectations for daily operations, work on projects and IT road map initiatives  
  • Gathering information on throughput, quality, unit performance and report metrics for inclusion on the agency’s IT dashboard 
  • Collaborating with IT directors to plan, organize and prioritize its technology road map 
  • Maintaining and providing input to departmental dashboards 
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and agency laws, rules, policies and procedures 
  • Collaborating with CIO and other IT directors to create and maintain values and operating principles, and a culture of accountability, teamwork, excellence, ingenuity and innovation 

The position has a monthly salary range of $8,500 to $10,500.
