Brazos County, home to 242,014 residents, has allocated the following funds in its FY 2023 Adopted Capital Improvement Plan:
- $2,338,890 for a digital evidence management system and patrol video refresh.
- $326,210 to replace mobile data terminal units.
- $243,420 for a storage area network refresh project.
- $189,760 for a server refresh project.
- $76,870 for a remote data center uninterruptible power supply replacement.
- $40,970 to replace four Internet small computer system interface (ISCSI) switches.
- $18,460 for an uninterruptible power supply refurbishment for the county’s IT data center.
Meanwhile, Bexar County, the state’s fourth-largest with approximately 2 million residents, has listed the following IT projects in its FY 2023 Adopted Budget and Capital Improvement Plan.
- $7,940,000 to replace its current human resources information system.
- $2,236,722 for multiple data center infrastructure enhancements, including a CyberSense acquisition, CyberVault expansion, data domain expansion and HyperFlex expansion.
- $1,652,000 to implement a comprehensive, fully integrated enterprise asset management software platform for the county’s facilities management department.
- $900,000 to replace all in-car computers outside of warranty for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
- $156,245 to replace existing Guardian radio frequency identification (RFID) devices to track inmates.
- $34,615 to upgrade the fire alarm system at the Judson Service Center to ensure compliance with the county’s fire marshal office.
- $27,916 for updated surveillance cameras at the Judson Service Center to prevent theft and property damage.
