The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has issued a pre-solicitation notice to inform vendors of its plans to publish a request for offer (RFO) for mapping and geographical information systems (GIS) services and digitized cartography resources.

According to the notice, TxDOT will use the technology in its upcoming roadway inventory, video and lidar project.

TxDOT publishes roadway and inventory data annually, including GIS linework and roadway inventory attributes. The agency then submits that data to the Federal Highway Administration as part of its Highway Performance Monitoring System Program.

Other roadway inventory reports compiled by the agency include statistics on the use of public roadways in the state, including miles, lane miles, daily vehicle miles of travel and daily truck vehicle mileage.

“These reports are summarized at county, district and state levels and are grouped by highway system, ownership, functional classification, population classification and national highway system categories,” the agency’s website states.

The due date for the pre-solicitation notice is June 27. More information about the opportunity can be found online.
