TxDOT Utility Meetings to Focus on Broadband, Drones and New Tech

Meetings in Laredo and Del Rio will cover several funding and technology topics, including innovation and infrastructure.

Tribune News Service —  Utility owners, contractors, consultants and government officials in Webb and Val Verde counties are invited to a pair of utility meetings this month hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation’s Laredo District.

The first will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at 1817 Bob Bullock Loop in Laredo, followed by a second meeting Sept. 16 from 2-4 p.m. at 319 E. Gibbs in Del Rio. This is the second year of the meetings taking place.

Discussion topics include TxDOT best practices, the standard utility agreement workflow, special provisions for the Laredo District, Build America and Buy America federal requirements, TxDOT’s broadband infrastructure program deployment, innovative technologies and the use of drones.

The Laredo District plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains the state transportation system in the Dimmit, Duval, Kinney, La Salle, Maverick, Val Verde, Webb and Zavala counties.
