The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) websites were down Thursday afternoon, about four days after the outages were announced on the center’s Facebook pages.

The educational and public health institute serves West Texas.

“On September 26, 2024, University Medical Center detected unusual activity within their IT systems. The IT outage affects many of the shared systems that the TTUHSC and Texas Tech Physicians clinics and UMC use in daily operations. As a result, certain systems at TTUHSC are temporarily offline,” the page said.

The center didn't post a cause or a timeline for restoration.

A temporary page was posted containing information for students, patients and team members, and the social media channels have been updated throughout. The center published telephone numbers and alternative Google email addresses on an outage FAQ, and Facebook posts encouraged students to stay in touch with professors.

TTUHSC has 5,600 faculty and staff and more than 5,300 students, according to its legislative appropriations request. It offers medical, nursing and assorted health training as well as clinics and telehealth services throughout the region.
