The new design will include improved search, site organization and shopping cart management tools, according to the comptroller's office, which operates it.

Vendors who use Texas SmartBuy will have a new user experience after the Texas Comptroller for Public Accounts (CPA) relaunches the site over the weekend.

Texas SmartBuy is an electronic procurement system listing agency procurement opportunities, vendor goods and services, state contracts and training.

The CPA announced a site shutdown starting at 5 p.m. Friday with a Monday, April 15, go-live date. Existing vendor information should migrate to the new version, which means logons, histories and reports will be retained.

All applications have been redesigned, according to the announcement, but the Vendor Performance Tracking System is where the biggest changes are happening.

“Performance criteria have been divided into different groups, each requiring a minimum of one input. These criteria selections, combined with the best value determination, will drive each report’s final grade on the A-F scale, removing the risk of procurement professionals selecting a grade that isn’t supported by the reported inputs,” it reads.

Vendors are encouraged to place purchase orders before end of business Friday or resume submissions Monday.
