The University of Texas at Tyler will build a new science building, according to a preliminary request for qualifications (pre-RFQ) published this week, and the school continues to plan for campus expansion amid a consolidation process.
The university is undergoing a realignment that combines UT Tyler with the UT Tyler Health Science Center under one accreditation.
The science building request is RFQ 802-1408, and it seeks qualified architect/engineer professional services due by July 14.
The preliminary project cost is set at $90 million to include 120,000 gross square footage. The project will include high-quality modern classrooms, space for math and science programs, collaboration spaces, offices, computer labs, teaching labs and research labs. There will be multiple IT and telecommunications needs.
The university also has an active RFP for website redesign, digital marketing consultation and creative development with a deadline of 3 p.m. July 7.
The solution will provide information architecture for students, faculty and staff, parents and alumni, accreditation agencies and health-care recipients.
Creative content and design will include the university home page and landing pages, including the library's; course catalogs; news and marketing information; and health affairs and research.
UT Tyler has about 10,000 students, according to its website. Money has been set aside by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for multiple projects, and the university plans to open the UT Tyler School of Medicine in 2023.
