Veterans Commission Seeks Information to Provide Database Management Services

The effort is part of the Hazlewood Act, which supports veterans’ education.

The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) is seeking ideas and information from vendors to provide database management systems services to implement a Hazlewood Act database and a database management system.

The TVC is requesting information on integrating solutions that will be provided in one of the following ways:
  • Software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
  • Custom/hosted solution operated and maintained through Texas Data Center Services (DCS).
  • Program managed by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as required by Texas government code.

The State Veterans Education Program (SVEP), of the Veterans Education Department, provides program oversight of the Hazlewood Act tuition exemption benefit authorized by the Legislature to benefit Texas veterans, their dependents and surviving spouses.

The SVEP ensures that the Hazlewood Act Database processes and procedures reflect industry best practices and remain compliant with state law, regulations and guidelines.
