About 900 municipal IT professionals met during this week’s Texas Association of Governmental IT Managers (TAGITM) to network, recognize accomplishments and share information.

The 45-year-old statewide association is made up of IT decision-makers and staff from across the state, with attendees from municipalities as large as Fort Worth at 935,508 to the town of Westlake at 1,900. Membership also includes county and school district IT professionals.

Towns, cities and counties are talking about:

  • Cybersecurity and disaster recovery
  • Government cloud adoption
  • Automation
  • Artificial intelligence, including the latest on ChatGPT

This year’s event was the largest gathering yet, featuring four tracks: CIO/Leadership, Innovative/GIS, IT Management and Technical. Each included sessions presented by municipalities and technology vendors.

The yearly event includes a vendor hall, where more than 70 spaces sold out within the first hour and a half of registration, according to organizers.
